Creating a Graph using Kids Zone

Today we created a graph using the Kids Zone website.

To see my graph click here Graph

This was a very user friendly website to create graphs. This would make it easy for kids to start the process of including graphs with the information they collected.

This activity followed INTASC Principles:
Principle 1: Making Content Meaningful: by displaying the content in a different way it allows the students to see the information compiled.

Principle 2: Child development and learning theory
This technology supports the intellectual growth of the student by expanding their
understanding of the topic they are studying.

Principle 3: Learning styles/diversity
This would be great for those students who are visual learners.

I used google documents to create the file and imported the graph.
The graph document was 36.3 KB in size.

Desktop Graphic

I used a graphic image to enhance a lesson on learning all the names and locations of the bones in the human body. I also used the Paint software on the computer to remove the names of the bones from the skeleton and added a text box on the bottom to pose a question to the students to label and locate the bones on the human body. This would be a good exercise for students who are learning the bones of the body because they could practice many times until they have learned all the bones.

I believe this fits ISTE Standard 1: Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity.

Also, I believe this fits into the INTASC Principles with Principle 2:

The teacher provides learning activities that suppport intellectual development.

This image is saved as a png image and is 102 kb in size.

Photo Story link to Teacher Tube

I have uploaded my video to Teacher Tube.

Dale's Cone Reading

Describe what Dale's Cone of Experience is?

It's a pyramid shaped cone that has level of how one learns and the further you go down the cone the more senses are used to retain that information.

Is Dale's Cone of Experience logical? Factual?

I believe it is logical. His original cone did not have any percentages or order.

How does Dales' Cone of Experience comport with current research on teaching and learning in the assigned reading. After the reading, comment on your opinion of the validity of Dale's Cone of Experience.

The newer cones are very similiar to the original but updated for todays learning.

I agree with the original cone not having percentages and order to it. There are many types of different learners. Who's to say which way is best and which one absorbs the most the fastest.

But it gives a wide range of the kind of learners we can have.

Photo Story

I have tried to post my Photo Story on my blog with no success. I've tried to use Teacher Tube but after several tries I still come up with errors on the page. I will keep trying. Any suggestions would be great.
